Using quotes or sayings to motivate yourself

Sometimes it helps to have something short and pithy to focus on at those moments when your brain short-circuits and plays an endless loop of “Just one cupcake won’t hurt…”

These are some of my favourites. Try setting one as your screensaver, or writing it on a post-it on your monitor. You might even find that buying a fridge magnet helps your motivation at those “I wonder if there’s any chocolate in here” moments…

Quotes for when you don’t know where to begin

“You cannot change your destination overnight, but you can change your direction overnight.” – Jim Rohn

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” – George Bernard Shaw

“The pain of self-discipline is always less than the pain of regret.” – John Maxwell

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

“My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people.” – Orson Welles

“Inside some of us is a thin person struggling to get out, but they can usually be sedated with a few pieces of chocolate cake.” – Anon
